小学校や中学校などに通えていない「不就学」のおそれがある外国人の子どもの数は、全国で8000人以上に上ることが文部科学省の調査でわかりました。

 A survey by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology found that there are more than 8,000 foreign children nationwide who are at risk of not attending elementary or junior high school.

それによりますと、去年5月の時点で住民基本台帳に登録されていた小中学生の年齢にあたる外国人の子ども13万6923人のうち、学校に通えていない子どもや就学状況がわからない子どもは、合わせて8183人でした。

おととし行われた前回の調査と比べると1800人余り減っていますが全体の6％に上っています。

就学前の子どもが受ける健康診断の案内などを複数の言語で配ったり、

巡回相談で保育園を訪れる際、

入学予定の学校につないだりする事例もあるということです。
